This webinar is part of the Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation’s Spring 2021 Webinar Series.

In this webinar, Clara Gorman and Rachel Bickel (Mukurtu Fellows) will discuss the process of conducting research in federal repositories including the Library of Congress (LOC) and the Smithsonian Institution (SI). This webinar will provide an overview of how collection and institutional histories influence the types of materials housed in each repository, strategies for locating materials relevant to specific communities, and options for providing feedback on their display and description in the record. In addition, the webinar will showcase various resources available to researchers both online and on-site, and give tips on successful strategies for conducting research both inside and outside the reading room.

Participants are encouraged to explore the Library of Congress Online Catalog and the Smithsonian Institution’s Collections Search Database prior to the webinar.

This webinar took place on Friday, April 30, 2021, 10:00-11:00 am PST.
