AN ACT

To Establish and Incorporate “The Port of Portland” and to Provide for the Improvement of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers, in Said Port, and between Said Port and the Sea.

Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon:

Section 1. That all that part of Multnomah County in this State which lies west of the east boundary line of Range two, east of the Willamette meridian; and south of the north boundary line of Township one, north of the Base Line, be and the name is hereby created a separate district, to be known as “The Port of Portland,” and as such shall have perpetual succession, and by the said name shall exercise and carry out all the corporate powers and objects hereby conferred and declared, make all contracts, hold, receive and dispose of real and personal property, such as may be found requisite, necessary or convenient in carrying out the objects of said Corporation as herein set out and expressed, and sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded in all actions, suits and proceedings brought by or against it.

Sec. 2. The object, purpose and occupation of said Corporation, The Port of Portland, shall be to so improve the Willamette and Columbia rivers between said cities and the sea, so that there shall be made and permanently maintained in said Willamette River at said cities and the sea a ship channel of good and sufficient width, and having a depth at all points at mean low water, both at said cities and between said cities and the sea of not less then twenty-five feet.
