About

Formed in 1990, the Center for Columbia River History was a consortium of the Washington State Historical Society, Portland State University and Washington State University Vancouver. For more than two decades, the Center for Columbia River History promoted study of the history of the Columbia River Basin through interdisciplinary research projects, publishing material in text and electronic format, sponsoring teacher seminars and free public programs, and developing curriculum. In partnership with other historical and cultural institutions, and with funding through the James B. Castles endowment, CCRH offered historical public programs throughout the Basin. A legacy of this work is the website you are now visiting.
