Thompson Hall

The architecturally distinguished Thompson Hall was originally the administration building for Washington State University. The building was completed in 1895, which was only three years after the college was established. Thompson Hall is the oldest surviving building on campus. It is easily one of the most recognizable landmarks on the WSU campus.

Dates of Construction: 1893–1895

Cost: $50,000

Use/Function: Administration building (until 1968); offices for the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and classrooms and offices for the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures

Significance: The oldest surviving building on campus.
