Paper Mill at LaCamas

The daily Oregonian of Saturday says the Articles of Incorporation of the Columbia River Paper Company were filed in the county clerks office Friday. The incorporators were W. Lewthwaite, H.L. Pittock and J.K. Gill, and the object, as set forth, is “to engage in the manufacture, purchase and sale of all kinds of paper and material which may be used in the manufacture of paper; also to buy, sell, lease, acquire and transfer real, personal or mixed property, as it may deem necessary, convenient or profitable; also to handle in any manner whatsoever building and real estate necessary, water rights, rights of way, etc.” The capital stock of the company is $100,000. The Board of Directors have elected the following officers: President, H. L. Pittock; Vice President, J.K. Gill; Treasurer, C.A. Malarky; Secretary, Samuel R. Irwin; Superintendent, William Lewthwaite. The mills of the company will be located at LaCamas, where the risks from high water, etc., incidental to using water power are reduced to a minimum. Work will be commenced on the buildings April 1.
